Department of Civil Engineering

Overview

Welcome to our Diploma in Civil Engineering Program, where innovation meets practical expertise. Department of Civil Engineering established in the year 2009 Our program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the dynamic field of civil engineering. At Gandhi Academy of Technology and Engineering , we are committed to providing a comprehensive education that blends theoretical foundations with hands-on experience. Our esteemed faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and industry connections ensure that our graduates are prepared to tackle the challenges of tomorrow's infrastructure needs.

Activities beyond the Curriculum
  • In order to improve the employability of the students and make them industry ready, the department organizes additional courses beyond their academic curriculum like PLC, SCADA. Microcontrollers, etc. by in-house faculties and also by inviting experts from industries.
  • The department conducts regular seminars and workshops by inviting industry experts and academia to enlighten the students on the latest development in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

DEPARTMENTAL VISION AND MISSION

HOD’s Message

Ms.Nirali Das,HOD.

I take the privilege to welcome you all to the Department of Civil Engineering at Gandhi Academy of Technology and Engineering, Golanthara,Berhampur. Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works such as bridges, roads, canals, dams and buildings.

The aim of the department is to impart the students a sound knowledge of the theory of civil engineering subjects with exposure to practical knowledge through laboratories and field study. The combination of (Civil engineer + teacher) is our added strength. Our department has a team of qualified and experienced faculty and staff members. We always work with the motto” NOTHING CAN BE ACHIVED WITHOUT A TRUE EFFORT”

In the first year of study students will learn about the basic engineering techniques along with mathematics and engineering design. From second year students will be more focused towards core subject studies. Our students learn the fundamentals of engineering by performing experiments in our well equipped laboratories such as Surveying, Material testing lab, Hydraulics & Environmental lab, Theory of structures and engineering geology lab. The core competency is developed by our well designed tutorials and assignments. The department is having well equipped auto cad lab with internet connectivity. Our classrooms are equipped with projector facilities & CC Cameras.

Students enjoy the regular industrial visits, Plant visits & Extensive survey project based on their curriculum and scope of the study. That's why; Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic has been the first choice since last couple of years in Civil Branch along with all other branches in the entire region. A Diploma civil engineering has a wide variety of employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors.

We encourage regular interaction among students, parents and staff, along with a Training and Placement Cell which works full time for a bright future for the students hence I am sure that the Civil Engineers of SGP College will make the Nation proud. I assure that all facilities with leading technology will be available under one roof.

Thanking You!!
Mrs.Nirali Das
